Big Johns Pizza

I think this is the reason we moved back to Whitehall. It is so cheesy, and greasy, and completely delicious. I remember eating Big Johns pizza for as long as I can remember. As a kid my parents would get half cheese and half sausage. My sister and I didn't like the sausage because it had those little watermelon-looking things in it. I now know that those are fennel seeds and they are yummy (and taste nothing like watermelon).
Our kids do not appreciate the wonder of Big Johns pizza. They would prefer Pizza Hut or Little Caesars. While this is mind boggling, I don't really mind since that means more for us.
We ordered it last night and I planned on taking a picture to post, to show the deliciousness, but we ate it all before I could.

The Freakin' Beacon

The White Lake area is proud to have its own weekly news publication. When I was little it was called The Observer, but for many years has been known as The White Lake Beacon. When I was in 6th grade I had a job delivering The Beacon. I made $5.25 each week which gave me plenty of money to go to Pitkin's Drug Store and buy stickers. It was the 80's and stickers were the whip!

The Beacon used to be a one section paper, and I remember being amazed when they went to two. And then they added color!! All this technology has come at a price though. Up until last year The Beacon was free, a gift to us all. Now you must pay (I think it's like $27 a year) but it's well worth the cost. My favorite part is probably the police log. They seem to add a little jazz to the descriptions of the small-time Mayberryish crimes that take place here. It always makes me laugh.

So many ideas!

I had an idea to take pictures of all the things I love about it here and make a book. Well, I'm too lazy for that so I thought this might work better. There are so many funny things about Whitehall and I plan on sharing them all. Enjoy.
